Partnership with State Government of Osun
Establishment of Model High Schools (SS1 – SS3) across the state of Osun is the brain child of the State Government of Osun under the leaders ship of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola. This project is aimed at making the State of Osun a hub for qualitative education in Nigeria.
One of these high schools adopted the name of of the noble laureate, Wole Soyinka, because of his stance on quality education for all. The School is situated in Ejigbo, Osun State. Ejigbo is a serene town founded by Akinjile Ogiyan , a descendant of Oduduwa. The people of Ejigbo are known for farming and trading. Cashew is grown extensively for export. Ejigbo indigenes are well traveled. They have long history of international emigration, predominantly Ivory Coast. Little wonder, French is the most popular language after Yoruba.
Wole Soyinka Government High School, a senior secondary school, opened her doors to students on 16 February, 2017. The School serves other towns and villages in the environ. Some of these towns and villages are Ika, Igbon, Inisa, Aato, Ilawo, Isundunrin and Olla.
NurtureHouse Limited was appointed School Administrator in February, 2017 after a rigorous selection process conducted by Phillips Consulting. The NurtureHouse Team led by Ayopeju Njideaka commenced operations in Ejigbo on 1st March, 2017.

School Population
At commencement of operation, the school had less than 200 students on enrolment this number grew steadily . Thus, at the end of her 1st academic year, Wole Soyinka Government High School closed with 552 students – 296 in grade 10 and 256 in grade 11.

Staff Development
Osun West local Education District and the Ministry of Education seconded staff to the school. A rigorous professional development program was instituted in the school by the NurtureHouse Team. In April 2017, the School Leadership Team, Teaching Staff and School Bursar held a 2-day Learning Retreat at City of Knowledge Academy, Ijebu Ode. The theme was “ Redefining the Classroom”. Participants learnt a lot about 21st Century Education and Leveraging on Technology. They were greatly inspired for the journey ahead. The retreat laid a solid foundation for redefinition of teaching, learning and instructional leadership in Wole Soyinka Government High School. Professional development activities for staff continue to hold fortnightly in both schools.

Administration of Adventist Government High School, Ede
In recognition of the work done in WSGHS, Ejigbo by the NurtureHouse Team, the Organisation was contracted to run Adventist Government High School, Ede.This commenced in May, 2017 . We inherited a school with a population of about 180 and grew it to about 400 at the end of the Session (July 2017)
Uniqueness of Wole Soyinka Government High School, Ejigbo and Adventist Government High School, Ede.
The attraction to both schools can be traced to exciting and engaging academic and co-curricular activities experienced by students. For the 1st time, students in a public school experienced learner-centred lessons. They had the opportunity to discuss with teachers and determine learning methodology best suited to them. During lessons, students debate with teachers extensively. This style has resulted in confident and self motivated learners. Students also have the opportunity to feedback on attitude and performance of teachers – a feat generally not associated with public schools.

Use of Technology
A good number of teachers in both schools now engage actively in the use of technology ( content and devises) to drive their lessons. Funds received from the State Government of Osun was channelled to equipping Computer Laboratories and multimedia communication equipment amongst other things.
Students also participated in “Code Osun” a program organised by the US Embassy in conjunction with US Government Exchange Alumni Association, Osogbo Chapter. This formed the basis of establishment of ICT Club in both schools.

Sports
Sports is a weekly affair in both schools. Students and staff engage in various sports ranging from football to athletics. Female students are not left out of these activities.

Excursions
Students embark on educational trips to sites in nearby towns. The Media Club visited a Radio Station in Osogbo – Rave FM, whilst Geography and Science students visited Obafemi Awolowo University Zoological Garden. We hope to extend these to more distant locations that will be of benefit to students.

Leadership Opportunities
Students are constantly provided with opportunities to develop and practice leadership skills. These opportunities include addressing whole school assembles, organising School events and overseeing activities of junior students

Parent Involvement
For the first time in the history of public education in the State of Osun, parents now have the opportunity to follow up on their child’s performance in an organised whole school event – Academic Open Day. At the Academic Open Day , parents meet individually with subject teachers and class sponsors to discuss strategies to help students improve. This has contributed immensely to involvement of parents in the learning activities of students. On the whole, most students now have a positive attitude to education
